British Olympic star Ben Ainslie gets less than two weeks off before heading to his new job in the America's Cup. After winning his fourth straight gold medal to become the most successful sailor in Olympic history, Ainslie will lead Ben Ainslie Racing in the second season of the America's Cup World Series, which begins with a regatta Aug. 21 in San Francisco. Next summer he'll sail with defending champion Oracle Racing in the 34th America's Cup on San Francisco Bay. He'd like to head a British challenge for the 35th America's Cup. As Ainslie and other British sailors are painfully aware, Old Blighty has never been able to win back the oldest trophy in international sports. With Queen Victoria watching, the schooner America lifted the Auld Mug off a fleet of British ships in 1851 in a race around the Isle of Wight — up the coast from the London Olympics sailing venue at Weymouth — and it's never been back. "We're very good at Olympic sailing. We have been good at single-handed offshore sailing," said Ainslie, who has an Olympic silver medal from 1996 to go along with his four golds. "It would be nice if we could branch out to offshore sailing, the America's Cup, and be successful in that." — Bernie Wilson — Twitter http://twitter.com/berniewilson ___ EDITOR'S NOTE — "Eyes on London" shows you the Olympics through the eyes of Associated Press journalists across the 2012 Olympic city and around the world.
