Here's a look at highlights from the weekly AP photo report from Latin America and the Caribbean, a gallery featuring a mix of front-page photography, the odd image you might have missed and lasting moments our editors think you should see.

This week's collection includes desperate efforts to put out a major fire at Guatemala City's largest market, exuberant Metallica fans at a concert in Paraguay, a police officer in Brazil trying to avoid a barking street dog, striking farmers in Paraguay and Earth Hour in Bolivia.

In the Caribbean, Haitians dealt with a major drought in one of the hungriest, most desolate parts of the nation, and Cuba hosted cowboys at an international cattle fair.

People in Rio de Janeiro watched Brazilian police and marines move into a sprawling complex of shantytowns to push out drug gangs and set up permanent police posts ahead of the World Cup soccer tournament in June.
