NEW YORK (AP) — Cotton futures No. 2 closed 45 cents a bale higher to $2.80 lower Thursday.

The average price for strict low middling 1 & 1-16 inch spot cotton advanced 6 points to 71.42 cents per pound Thursday for the seven markets, according to the Market News Branch, Memphis USDA.
