ZURICH (AP) — Soccer's rules-making panel has approved headscarves for Muslim female players The panel, known as IFAB, gave its approval on Thursday after FIFA's medical committee approved designs for two scarf designs they said do not threaten player safety. Soccer prohibits equipment that is dangerous or makes religious statements. FIFA vice president Prince Ali of Jordan led a yearlong campaign to overturn the headscarf ban, which was enforced in FIFA competitions since 2007.
