LONDON (AP) — London has been chosen to host the international Paralympic athletics world championships in 2017.

The event will be held in July at the Olympic Stadium, a month before it hosts the IAAF world track and field championships.

London will be the first city to host the two events side-by-side. The stadium hosted athletics at the Olympics and Paralympics this year.

London Mayor Boris Johnson says "the capital is poised to re-create the magic of 2012."

The IPC athletics world championships are the largest single-sport competition for athletes with an impairment. They take place every two years.
