WASHINGTON (AP) — Prosecutors have filed a misdemeanor campaign finance charge against ex-District of Columbia Council chairman Kwame Brown. The charge in D.C. Superior Court comes one day after Brown was charged with federal bank fraud and resigned his seat on the council. Brown on Wednesday was charged with federal bank fraud, accused of falsifying his income by tens of thousands of dollars on loan applications. He submitted his resignation later in the day and is scheduled to plead guilty on Friday. The new charge stems from Brown's 2008 re-election campaign and accuses him of authorizing a relative to open a "side account."
