SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A judge has delayed opening statements in the court-martial of a Texas Air Force sergeant who faces charges in a sex scandal that rocked one of the nation's busiest military training centers.

Opening statements in the trial of Staff Sgt. Luis Walker had been set for Monday. The military judge pushed them to Tuesday because of debate over various legal issues in the case.

Walker faces up to life in prison and a dishonorable discharge if convicted on the rape and sexual assault charges.

Walker is among 12 instructors at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio who are being investigated in the scandal. His charges are the most serious in the case.

He faces 28 counts, including rape and aggravated sexual contact.
