MONTREAL (AP) — A large section of the roof at Maurice Richard Arena blew off Thursday. Officials didn't report any injuries. Fire department spokesman Sylvain Cuillerier said a section of the roof about 30 yards long and 20 yards wide was blown off the top of the arena. The 4,750-seat arena, named in honor of the late Montreal Canadiens star, is adjacent to the Olympic Stadium and is the home of Canada's national short-track speedskating team. The arena opened in the early 1960s, was a venue for events at the 1976 Olympics and has hosted junior hockey over the decades. A statue of Richard sits in front of the building.
