TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A senior Russian diplomat is urging convening of new talks over Iran's nuclear program to break a months-long standoff. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov says recognition of Iran's right to enrich uranium can be part of the talks between Iran and six world powers. The West opposes that. Ryabkov made the remarks in a meeting with Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, in Tehran Wednesday, according to the official IRNA news agency. There are no immediate plans to resume nuclear talks between Iran and the six-nation group, made up of the five permanent U.N. Security Council members and Germany. The last round ended in stalemate in June in Moscow. The U.S. and its allies accuse Iran of seeking to develop a nuclear weapon, a charge Tehran denies.
