MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio is a late scratch against the Phoenix Suns because of back spasms.
Rubio worked out before the game on Saturday but was not able to play. It was a disappointing setback for Rubio, who recently was allowed to play more minutes in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He is considered day to day with the injury. The Timberwolves have three days off coming up before their next game, so Rubio likely will be ready to go by then.
Rubio made his season debut this month after sitting out the first six weeks while working his way back from a torn ACL in his left knee. He is averaging 4.2 points and 4.0 assists since his return.
