Apple is the third-largest manufacturer of personal computers in the U.S. It said Tuesday that it sold 4 million Macs worldwide during the April-June quarter, up 2 percent from a year ago. According to IDC, these are the top 5 PC manufacturers in second quarter of 2012. The numbers are estimates and do not reflect figures disclosed by the company after IDC's report came out July 11. Worldwide: Hewlett-Packard Co., 13.4 million shipped worldwide, 15.5 percent share Lenovo Group Ltd., 12.9 million, 14.9 percent Dell Inc., 9.6 million, 11.1 percent Acer Group, 9 million, 10.4 percent AsusTek Computer Inc., 6.1 million, 7.1 percent Others, 35.6 million, 41.1 percent. Total: 86.7 million United States: Hewlett-Packard Co., 4.1 million shipped in U.S., 25.9 percent share Dell Inc., 3.6 million, 22.5 percent Apple Inc., 1.8 million, 11.4 percent Lenovo Group Ltd., 1.28 million, 8 percent Acer Group, 1.25 million, 7.9 percent.
