VENTURA, Calif. (AP) — Cesar Romero scored in the 13th minute, lifting Chivas USA past the Ventura County Fusion 1-0 Tuesday night in the US Open Cup.

Chivas, of MLS, advances to play the Carolina RailHawks, who defeated the LA Galaxy earlier in the evening.

The fourth-division Fusion tested Chivas throughout, but Romero, who was replaced at halftime by Alejandro Moreno, got the only goal.
