Endangered Bats Land Swap

Endangered Bats Land Swap

FILE - This May 1, 2008 file photo shows Indiana bats in Wyandotte Cave in Wyandotte, Ind. The Indiana bat is an endangered species with evidence of habitats on a proposed 384 acres of heavily forested land that is part of a proposed land swap between the Shawnee National Forest and Peabody Energy. One of the country's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organizations, the Sierra Club, is describing the land swap between the Shawnee and Peabody as one of the worst exchanges ever considered for the Shawnee.
